So here's a random thought that spawned a question: I wonder what sort of music my readers listen to?

I mean in very general terms - I'm not asking for a comprehensive list of every band and singer you like and why, just a sort of overview of where you stand.
Are your rock-people? Do you like you some glam-rocking tight-pants wearing big hairdo-sporting screaming like the got no testicles EXTREME GUITAR SOLO making things explode on the stage 80's leotarded goodness?
How about some soul-wrenching cry your heart out sensitive sexy man on guitar singer-songwriting?
Do you dig the poppy tunes of can't read my can't read my milkshake brings all the boys to who let the dogs out whoever is the popular singer of the week?
Are you cello-digging classical folks in all four seasons whatever the overture?
Maybe you suck up the sounds of a severely sincere silhouettet jazz-man as the ivories cry a crooning conundrum of incomprehensible cacophony?
Are you bouncing your brains out to the beep-boop always loop fifty minute endless drone of a made-on-the-computer drum-machined techno-tune?

GIVE IT UP, people, whaddaya dig?

Uh....generally, I look for a good beat, and often I go for poppy songs, or songs that sound like you can dance to. Course my interests are all over....

Example: Some of my favorite bands to listen to are Ch!pz, Aqua, O-Zone, Rob Zombie, Mindless Self-Indulgence, Backstreet Boys, Weird Al, Tran-Siberian Orchestra, the occasional classical song, and I've recently gotten into My Chemical Romance. >.> Shi-chan's also a closet fan of Eminem. Well, not closet so much, but...I don't actually own any of his CDs.

Just...I like songs that sound fun to listen to. For most of these, that's all it is. I like either incredibly poppy dance music (I could listen to Popcorn for hours) or fairly hard rock. Not, like, heavy metal, but rock. Like....rocking rock'n' roll. I listen to Metallica a bit...but I hear they aren't considered heavy anymore. XP

Also, ah...I forget where Ch!pz are from...Sweden or something. Aqua's Swedish, I know that. So is ABBA, which I have a weakness for. O-Zone's no longer together, but they're Romanian....and Rob Zombie's just crazy. His music is crazy, don't listen to the music. I know I don't, really.

I like all kinds of music.

I like the poppieness of Lady Gaga, I love the smooth and smarmy style of Barry Manilow, I love the energy of Stan Bush and KISS, I adore the amazing voice of Freddy Mercury, I can't hate rocking to Billy Idol or The Beach Boys. I don't like very few artists.

Well, I actually play the cello (about 6 years). So classic it is. Don't mind some jazz, some pop (I dislike most rap, and I'm not a fan of Beyonce or Lady Gaga, rest is mostly okay, or better), love guitar solo's, sometimes one of those romantic soul things. Dislike screams (hardcore metal or something like that) and I don't like listening to the same (techno) beat for to long.
I think that in every type of music I like, there will be things that I don't like.

Oh right, I forgot to include Daft Punk in my favorites...

Dude, BeelzebubIV, I forgot them too! I LOVE Daft Punk! (Though some of their videos freak me out.) >.> <.< Also Elton John, Michael Jackson, Donnie Osmond, and David Bowie, but...oh yeah, Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Those guys are AWESOME. And Danny Elfman? He makes some of the most awesome instrumentals, plus he was the singing voice for Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas!

Oh my god, How on earth could I forget Sir Elton!?

I do like Pianoman, but otherwise I don't like BIlly Joel that much.

Might sound weird, but you know what I like? "Chipmunked" music. Or sped-up preferably, since most of the idiots on youtube don't know how to properly remix the song. I'd say something lame like "The squeaky voices sound so funny!" but I'm not really into it for that. I just like when songs, any songs, are played about 50x faster than they normally are.

Especially classical. :3

I like all kinds of music EXCEPT COUNTRY. I was raised on Country, and after spending time actually studying music and music theory (and gaining some life experience besides) I can't stand songs with only 3 chords and one theme. /end rant.

As for music I like, right now I'm getting into the band Abney Park. They do steampunky, piratey sounding music that is fun to dance to and paints some really clever pictures in my head.

I also love any music that challenges me intellectually. I love video game and movie scores especially, because it is rewarding to look for all the hidden themes and to analyze them. Dorky, I know.

I guess that's the key to my musical heart - clever lyrics, and intelligent sounds.
